Depression is a medical illness in which a person has persistent feelings of sadness that can be accompanied by feelings of discouragement and a lack of self-worth. Although depression in the elderly is a widespread problem, it often goes untreated because many people think that depression is a normal part of aging and a natural reaction to chronic illness, loss and social transition. Our show today will focus on the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of depression in the older adult population.
